Rear Admiral Elizabeth McCloy Morris

Rear Adm. Elizabeth McCloy Morris is a native of Glenside, Pennsylvania. A Navy Nurse Corps Collegiate Candidate, she graduated with honors from the University of Delaware in 1973 and was commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy Nurse Corps.

She received a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Florida in 1985 and completed the Post Master's Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at The Catholic University of America, Washington, District of Columbia in 1999.

Morris served on active duty at Naval Hospital Charleston until 1975 when she affiliated with the Naval Reserve. She commanded Naval Reserve (NR), Naval Air Station, Whiting Field 0174 and NR NNMC Bethesda 106, served as the REDCOM eight staff nurse corps officer and was appointed the Navy nurse corps representative to the 1989 Federal College of Nursing Task Force. She was voluntarily recalled to active duty at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery to help coordinate the identification of reserve medical personnel for mobilization during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. She served on active duty from 1992 until 1996 as assistant to Director, Navy Nurse Corps, Reserve Matters at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery.

Promoted to Rear Admiral (lower half) on 1 November 2001, she served as Navy nurse corps, deputy director, Reserve Component and then as the assistant to Deputy Chief, Reserve Affairs at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. Promoted to Rear Admiral (upper half) on 1 October 2004, Morris became the deputy chief for Reserve Affairs at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery on 1 January 2005. This position transitioned to associate chief, Human Resources for Navy Medicine in May 2005. After 33 years 11 months of service, Morris retired on 1 November 2006.

Morris' decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement (two awards), National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with silver hourglass and Mobilization M.
