Today, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Gilday met with Commander, Royal Canadian Navy Vice Adm. Angus Topshee in Yokohama, Japan, as part of his trip to the Indo-Pacific region to attend the International Fleet Review and Western Pacific Naval Symposium.

The two leaders reaffirmed the strength of the U.S. Navy-Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) relationship and discussed RCN efforts in the Indo-Pacific and European areas of operation, as well as the arctic.

The U.S. and Royal Canadian Navies regularly operate together. Notably, both navies participated in this year’s Ice Exercise (ICEX), Rim of the Pacific and Baltic Operations exercises, as well as supported numerous international joint operations.

This was the first meeting between Gilday and Topshee.
