PHILIPPINE SEA (Nov. 25, 2021) Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Russell Smith addresses Sailors in the War Room aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 2021. MCPON Smith visited multiple commands across Japan to visit with Sailors to hear about the challenges they face while serving in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility. Since his visit coincides with Thanksgiving and in an effort to bolster morale those who are away from families during the holidays, MCPON Smith spent time with the crew aboard the Vinson to serve dinner in effort to share his gratitude for those forward deployed and manning the watch on Thanksgiving.
