Juliet Beyler is a member of the senior executive service, who serves as the executive director for U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa (2023). In 1984, she enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a Korean cryptologic linguist and intelligence analyst for ten years before receiving her commission as one of the Marine Corps’ first women to become a combat engineer officer. Over the course of her Marine Corps career she completed numerous deployments around the world to locations such as Thailand, Russia, Haiti, the Philippines, and the Balkans. She commanded three times and served two combat tours in Iraq as a commanding officer and battalion operations officer. Before rejoining the Department of Defense after a 23-year military career, Beyler served as a senior policy advisor in the office of U.S. Senator Jim Webb. At the office of the secretary of defense, she led the DOD’s five-year effort to open all military positions to women.
