  • Lt. Jamal Scarlett, from Murrieta, Calif., a chaplain aboard the future USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), baptizes the child of Lt. John "Jack" Curran, a Ford Sailor, and his wife, Lt. The custom of baptizing infants aboard ships dates back to the British Royal Navy in which the infant is baptized under or inside the ship's bell.   • Lt. Emily Rosenzweig, a chaplain assigned to 3rd Radio Battalion Religious Ministry Team at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, reads a Hebrew prayer aboard the USS Arizona Memorial during an Interfaith Prayer service and Floral Tribute. The event allowed religious leaders from the U.S. military, Hawaii, and Japan to engage in prayer to honor the fallen service members. Dec. 7, 2016, marks the 75th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor and Oahu. Since Dec. 7, 1941, the U.S. and Japan have endured more than 70 years of continued peace, a cornerstone of security and prosperity in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
