  • Sailors assigned to the Navy Operational Support Center Minneapolis perform the dignified transfer of the remains of Motor Machinist's Mate 1st Class John E. Anderson. Anderson was killed in action in Landing Craft Tank (LCT) 30 on Normandy Beach June 6, 1944, and his remains were recently identified by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and returned to his family for burial. Fleet Week New York, now in its 28th year, is the city's time-honored celebration of the sea services.  It is an unparalleled opportunity for the citizens of New York and the surrounding tri-state area to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as witness firsthand the latest capabilities of today's maritime services.
