Dunes project gives new life to Christmas trees  (16 January 2013)
Each year following the holidays, the Environmental Program Division of the NAS Oceana Public Works Department, in partnership with the 1st Lieutenant's Department at Dam Neck Annex, offers a unique way to give Christmas trees a "new life," by recycling the trees on Dam Neck's beach.
Oceana, City of Chesapeake Solidify Seamless Response to HAZMAT   (8 March 2013)
First responders from Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire and Emergency Services trained with Chesapeake Fire Department personnel at Naval Auxiliary Landing Field (NALF) Fentress March 7, in an exercise to prepare units to respond to scenarios involving hazardous materials (HAZMAT).
Oceana Sailors Volunteer at Food Bank, Help Local Community  (8 March 2013)
Sailors from Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana took a break from their regular military duties Feb. 28 to help others in the community by volunteering for a community relations (COMREL) event at the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore.
Art Contest Recognizes Sacrifices of Military Children  (16 April 2013)
School liaison officers at Joint Expeditionary Base (JEB) Little Creek - Fort Story and Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana partnered with Virginia Beach City Public Schools for the "Art of Being a Military Child," an art contest to recognize the sacrifices made by military children.
