No one was hurt when the mine countermeasures ship USS Guardian (MCM 5) ran aground on Tubbataha Reef at 2:25 a.m. local time, Jan. 17, while transiting the Sulu Sea.
U.S. Navy Continues Operations to Free Grounded USS Guardian   (18 January 2013)
While the U.S. Navy continues operations to free the grounded USS Guardian (MCM 5) from Tubbataha Reef, all 79 crew members were temporarily removed today and safely transferred by small boat to the nearby support vessels USNS Bowditch (T-AGS 62) and MSV C-Champion.

The U.S. 7th Fleet Commander on Saturday expressed regret over the grounding of USS Guardian (MCM 5) on Tubbataha Reef in the Sulu Sea.
USS Warrior to Deploy to Japan, Replace USS Guardian  (25 February 2013)
The U.S. Navy announced Feb. 26 (Japan Standard Time) that USS Warrior (MCM 10) will deploy to U.S. 7th Fleet Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF) in Sasebo, Japan, to replace USS Guardian (MCM 5).
Final Hull Section of Ex-Guardian Removed From Reef  (30 March 2013)
U.S. Navy and contracted salvage personnel embarked onboard the U.S. Navy contracted crane vessel M/V Jascon 25 completed on March 30th the removal of the grounded mine countermeasures ship Ex-Guardian from the Tubbataha Reef.
