100 Years of Underway Replenishments at Sea  (27 March 2017)
The Civil Service Mariners who crew Military Sealift Command's fast combat support ship, USNS Arctic (T-AOE 8), got the ship underway from Naval Station Norfolk, March 22, to do what the U.S. Navy has done for 100 years, underway replenishments at sea (UNREP).

USNS Patuxent Returns Home from Deployment  (4 May 2017)
Civil Service Mariners, who crew Military Sealift Command's fleet replenishment oiler USNS Patuxent (T-AO 201), completed a six-month Middle East deployment returned to Naval Station Norfolk, May 4.
National Maritime Day Observed with Military Sealift Command   (23 May 2017)
The sacrifice of U.S merchant mariners and the contribution of the maritime industry were observed during a National Maritime Day celebration hosted by the Norfolk Propeller Club and Port of Norfolk with participation by Military Sealift Command, May 22.
A Civil Service Mariner Journey at the U.S. Navy War College  (26 May 2017)
Every year Military Sealift Command (MSC) selects and sponsors one senior civil service mariner (CIVMAR) to the U.S. Naval War College for a year as a full-time student. In June, a six-year MSC chief mate, Todd R. Kutkiewicz, will be graduating from the War College with a graduate degree.

The U.S. Navy's first purpose-built expeditionary sea base, USNS Lewis B. Puller (T-ESB 3), departed from Naval Station Norfolk to begin its first operational deployment, July 10.
