Three veterans of the Battle of Midway were honored at Midway Airport during a ceremony sponsored by Naval Station Great Lakes (NSGL), the Chicago Department of Aviation, and the Chicago Marine Heritage Society, June 7.
Forty nine volunteer chief selectees completed training to serve, for the second consecutive year, as tour guides at the Museum of Science and Industry for the USO U-505 Naval History Program, presented along with the Pritzker Military Library and the museum, Sept. 4-8.
The Naval Station Great Lakes (NSGL) gate through which all friends and families of newly-minted Sailors arrive for recruit graduations was renamed in a formal ceremony, Nov. 9, for former Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) retired Adm. Vern Clark.
