A Navy MH-60R helicopter assigned to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 75 suffered a hard landing while conducting routine training on board Naval Air Station North Island, Dec. 12 at approximately 11 p.m. local time.

Navy Identifies Three Officers Killed in EA-6B Crash in Eastern Washington  (13 March 2013)
All three crew members aboard a Navy EA-6B Prowler jet assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron 129 (VAQ-129) at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Wash., were killed when the aircraft crashed Monday morning in an unpopulated area approximately 50 miles west of Spokane, Wash.
VAQ 136 Completes Prowler to Growler Transition, Certified 'Safe for Flight'   (19 March 2013)
The "Gauntlets" of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 136 were certified "safe for flight" March 12, after completing an 11-month transition from the EA-6B Prowler to the new EA-18G Growler.

Commander, Patrol Reconnaissance Wing Two, Capt. Christopher P. Ramsden, has reassigned the Executive Officer of the Hawaii-based Patrol Squadron Four (VP-4) due to an investigation into allegations of misconduct.
U.S. Navy Cancels Blue Angels 2013 Performances  (10 April 2013)
The Navy has cancelled the remaining 2013 performances of its Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels. The squadron will continue to train to maintain flying proficiency until further notice at its home station in Pensacola, Fla.

Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 35 became the first composite expeditionary helicopter squadron to include both the world's most technologically advanced helicopter; the MH-60R Seahawk and the MQ-8B Fire Scout Vertical Take-off and Landing Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (VTUAV).
HSM-41 Receives Award from the San Diego Community  (15 May 2013)
Sailors assigned to the Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 41 "Seahawks" were recognized May 7, 2013 by the County of San Diego Board of Supervisors for their accomplishment of 170,000 operational flight hours without a Class A mishap.

Commander, Carrier Air Wing Two's command master chief (CMC) was reprimanded and relieved of his duties June 4, after being found guilty of violating Article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice at a Captain's Mast proceeding, held at Naval Air Station Lemoore, Calif.

Students from two San Diego area high-schools participated in an inaugural outreach program for the 71st anniversary of the Battle of Midway commemoration at the USS Midway Museum, June 1.
