Shining a Light on Skin Cancer at NMCP  (13 May 2013)
Service members have a lot of risk factors for skin cancer, and that's one of the reasons the Dermatology Clinic at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) held a Skin Cancer Rodeo, May 6-9, to lower the incidence of skin cancer among its beneficiaries.
NMCP Celebrates 105 Years of the Navy Nurse Corps  (13 May 2013)
The 105th birthday of the Navy Nurse Corps was celebrated May 13 at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth with a cake-cutting ceremony, recognition of the history of the corps as well as the dedication of all 1,336 nurses at the facility.

NMCP Commemorates 115 Years of Hospital Corps  (17 June 2013)
During an uncharacteristically cool and breezy morning, about 350 Naval Medical Center Portsmouth staff commemorated the 115th birthday of the Hospital Corps June 14 with a 1.5-mile group run, the first of several events planned to mark the day.
NMCP Staff Recommits to Patient Safety on National Time Out Day   (17 June 2013)
Naval Medical Center Portsmouth staff in departments throughout the medical center and at area branch health clinics and dental clinics took a time out June 12 to rededicate themselves to patient safety on National Time Out Day.
Sacrifice, Service Central Theme of NMCP's 115th Hospital Corps Birthday Celebration  (20 June 2013)
The Naval Medical Center Portsmouth galley was filled with staff and guests to recognize the 115th birthday of the Hospital Corps on June 17. An unoccupied chair was a rare sight among the large crowd lining the galley walls.
Patient Donates Asthma-Friendly Stuffed Bears to NMCP   (21 June 2013)
Naval Medical Center Portsmouth received a visit June 20 from a girl with big ambitions - Juliana Conza, 10, stopped by the Pediatrics Ward to distribute 10 certified asthma and allergy friendly bears for the patients, giving out six bears and leaving behind four more for future patients.

Admiral the Dog Visits NMCP Commander to Highlight Pet Therapy  (25 June 2013)
Naval Medical Center Portsmouth had a different type of admiral visit on June 21. The certified pet therapy dog, Admiral, a goldendoodle, met up with Rear Adm. Elaine C. Wagner, NMCP commander, and the Command Suite staff for petting, tail wagging and a few humorous dog stories.
NMCP's Junior Enlisted Association Relays for Cancer Research  (28 June 2013)
The annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life made its way onto the Tidewater Community College campus in Portsmouth, Va., June 22, with 15 members of Naval Medical Center Portsmouth's Junior Enlisted Association raising money for the cause and walking in the overnight event.
