Patient Care at the Speed of Light: NMCP IMD Completes Computer Network Hardware Upgrade  (20 December 2012)
Naval Medical Center Portsmouth's Information Management Department worked through November and December to replace cable and switches within the network electronics system throughout NMCP and the region's branch health clinics, completing the project on Dec. 20.
Norfolk's Fleet Dental Hits 200th Deployable, Dental-Ready Ship since 9/11  (14 January 2013)
Branch Health Clinic (BHC) Naval Station Norfolk Dental Clinic and USS Nicholas (FFG-47) held a ceremony Jan. 11 at the clinic honoring Nicholas as the 200th consecutive ship since Sept. 11, 2001, to be deployable with the crew at or above 95 percent Operational Dental Readiness.

For many service members, transferring from a command means packing up a box or two with family photos and some knick-knacks that once sat on a desk, but for Lt. Carmelo Ayala, who transferred from Branch Health Clinic Oceana on Feb. 13, it meant packing up more than 1,800 military coins.
NMCP's Medical Board Team Receives 14th Certified Pipeline Movers Award  (14 February 2013)
Naval Medical Center Portsmouth announced Feb. 14 that the Medical Boards staff received the Certified Pipeline Movers Award for their successes in the Physical Evaluation Board process. The staff has received the award 14 times since 1990, with the longest and current streak going since 2005.
Wounded Warrior Patriots' Inn at NMCP Celebrates Third Anniversary  (15 February 2013)
The Wounded Warrior Patriots' Inn and administrative complex at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth commemorated its third anniversary Feb. 13. Since the $5.2 million facility opened Feb. 12, 2010, more than 312 service members have passed through its doors, with 10 residents currently calling it home.
