USS Tortuga (LSD 46) held a change of ceremony Aug. 15 on board amphibious dock landing ship at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek.
Expeditionary Forces Train for Rapid Response  (28 August 2014)
Members of Expeditionary Strike Group 2 (ESG-2), Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC), and 2nd Marine Logistics Group conducted an annual, rapid-response planning and loading exercise (LOADEX) at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, Aug. 27-28.

USS WASP Returns to Naval Station Norfolk  (7 October 2014)
The amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) departed BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair after a yearlong dry-dock phased maintenance availability (DPMA) to return to her homeport, Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, Sept. 30.
Arlington Completes Supply Management Certification   (14 October 2014)
The crew of the amphibious transport dock USS Arlington (LPD 24) completed a biennial Supply Management Certification (SMC) Oct. 8 while moored at its homeport at Naval Base Norfolk, Va.
USS Wasp Port Engineer Retires after 52 years of Service to the Navy  (18 October 2014)
USS Wasp (LHD 1) hosted a retirement celebration, Oct. 15, to honor the ship's port engineer - a man who has supported Wasp's readiness since its commissioning in 1989.

Brazilian marines from the Brazilian Marine Fleet Force and U.S. Marines from 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines are currently embarked on amphibious dock landing ship USS Whidbey Island (LSD 41), and took part in Bold Alligator 2014 (BA14).

The guided-missile destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58) departed Naval Station Norfolk Nov. 4 to participate in Exercise Bold Alligator 2014 (BA14).
ESG-2 Advances 1,089 Petty Officers, Two on Staff  (8 December 2014)
Expeditionary Strike Group 2 (ESG 2) advanced 1,089 Sailors across the 24-command amphibious force according to the Fall 2014 Petty Officer Advancement results, with the first of the advancement eligible Petty Officers assigned to the Headquarters staff frocked on Nov. 25.

Rear Adm. Cynthia Thebaud, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Two (ESG 2), announced the Sailor of the Year selection board results at ESG-2 headquarters, Dec. 12.
A Year in Review for Tactical Air Control Squadron 21  (12 January 2015)
It was an eventful 2014 for Tactical Air Control Squadron 21 (TACRON 21). TACRON 21 has been actively involved in numerous volunteer opportunities in the community as well as playing a pivotal role in exercise Bold Alligator, a joint integrated multi-national amphibious assault exercise.
NATO Assembly Visits USS Arlington  (5 February 2015)
The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Arlington (LPD 24) welcomed two members of the U.S. House of Representatives as well as members of the NATO's Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) aboard the ship for lunch and a tour, Jan. 29.
