  • Naval support Facility Deveselu Sailors in joint collaboration with Romanian 99th Military Base service members conduct SHIELDEX 18 on base. SHIELDEX 18 is the first force protection/emergency operation exercise conducted on Romanian 99th Military Base and NSF Deveselu that encompassed assets from Commander, Navy installations Command within Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia and Romanian military entities throughout Southern Romania.   • Seabees assigned to Underwater Construction Team (UCT) 2 and Royal Canadian Navy clearance divers, assigned to Fleet Diving Unit, conduct diving operations for underwater navigation training at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, July 18, 2018. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships, five submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security of the world's oceans.   • U.S. Navy Sailors, assigned to the "Vipers" of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 48, load an AGM-114 Hellfire missile onto an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter on the flight deck of the guided-missile destroyer USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109). Jason Dunham is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
