Leaders To Sea
| Leaders To Sea |
The United States Navy is a global force for good. On any given day, your Navy - more than 400,000 active-duty and reserve Sailors and 285 battle force ships - are deployed in every region of the world conducting a wide variety of operations, from humanitarian assistance, to supporting other Services through sealift and pre-positioned equipment, to cooperation with partners, to deterring aggressors.
Navy Week Leaders to Sea is a program through which key leaders, from all sectors - corporate, civic, government, education, non-profit, and service - embark in a Navy warship at sea. |

|
While aboard, embarkees meet the talented young men and women who bring these ships to life, and they experience first-hand how the Navy is contributing to the security of the United States, and to the stability of the global community.
Navy Week Leaders to Sea are flown via Navy helicopter or Carrier Onboard Delivery aircraft to a U.S. Navy Ship operating at sea, where they spend one or two days meeting with the ship's leaders, interacting with Sailors, touring the ship and observing operations.
Guests must pay the cost of transportation to and from the port of embarkation, which is typically Norfolk, Va., or San Diego, Calif., as well as any local lodging costs. |

|
"I found the Leaders to Sea experience illuminating, exciting and educational. It's hard to understand the professionalism and dedication of our Naval men and women - and their sacrifices - until you witness them in action."
-Rosabel Tao, Vice President of Corporate Communications, Spot Runner |
Your Navy today is engaged around the globe, supporting the nation's interests whenever and wherever needed. The Navy is your global engagement force, conducting the full spectrum of naval operations that, by virtue of being forward deployed every day in all the world's regions, are designed to:
- Deter major war by maintaining significant naval combat power in key areas of the world, in close cooperation with our allies, to ensure that no major power sees advantage in using military force against us, and to win should war erupt despite our best efforts; |  | - Prevent and limit "local" wars by actively working with regional powers and employing a full range of naval capabilities, to act decisively, in cooperation with allies and partners, to contain or swiftly end smaller intra-regional wars that might threaten U.S. national interests;
- Build regional security through steady-state, long-term operations across the globe, to ensure the flow of trade, to uphold international law, to safeguard mariners at sea, and to improve conditions ashore when and where asked; Help those in need, to respond quickly and decisively to natural or man-made disasters. | | "I wish more civilians had the opportunity to see how well the Navy can transform young men and women into professional sailors. Their positive attitude, espirit de corp and pride were evident in every department."
-Dr. Vincent Orza, Dean of the Meinders School of Business, OKC University. | A billion-dollar warship, with all its advanced technology and hardware, is nothing without a dedicated, talented and diverse crew to man it. While aboard, Navy Week Leaders to Sea embarkees will meet some of the best young men and women America has to offer.
It takes inspired leadership to transform a collection of very different young men and women into an effective, cohesive, fully-integrated combat team. Leaders to Sea embarkees will see this leadership in action, interacting at all levels aboard the ship, from the captain to junior officers, from senior enlisted leaders to workcenter supervisors and deckplate sailors. |

The call to serve is not heard by everyone, but it has been heard by the men and women that Navy Week Leaders to Sea embarkees will meet at sea. The average age of a U.S. Navy Sailor is 20 years old. They are men and women of action. Navy Sailors are launching and recovering multi-million dollar aircraft. They are maintaining the engines that propel 100,000-ton warships through the world's oceans. They are operating complex combat systems. They have heard the call to serve, and they have responded with honor, courage and commitment. | | "The gift was being able to share time with the men and women that left me feeling both proud of them and blessed by all they are doing to keep our country safe."
-Ben Phillips IV, Director of Global Markets Afro-American Newspapers |
