LCDR Herrin assumed the duties as Executive Officer, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FOUR in June 2015.
After graduating from college in April 2001, LCDR Herrin was commissioned an Ensign via Officer Candidate School. His was first assigned to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, AZ where he served as Facilities Engineer. From 2003 to 2006 he served as the Deputy Resident Officer in Charge of Construction Sasebo, Japan. In 2006, he transferred to Civil Engineer Corps Officer School (CECOS) where he served as an Instructor for the Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division (FEAD) courses. In 2008, he deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan for a one-year Individual Augmentee assignment providing engineering support to Afghanistan Regional Security Integration Command - South.
He reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE in 2009 where he served initially as a Company Commander and subsequently as Detail Timor-Leste Officer in Charge during a nine month deployment to the Pacific. LCDR Herrin was assigned to Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast from 2011 to 2015 where he held several positions including Energy Team Leader, JTF GTMO MILCON Program Team Leader, and Regional Base Operating Support Contracts Program Manager.
LCDR Herrin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Brigham Young University and a Master of Engineering degree in Construction Engineering and Project Management from the University of Florida.
LCDR Herrin is a registered Professional Engineer (civil) in the state of Oregon and a Certified Energy Manager (CEM). He is a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, a DAWIA Level II warranted contracting officer and a Defense Acquisition Corps member. His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Army Commendation Medal, and the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2).
LCDR Herrin and his wife, Larisa have two daughters, Leneah (14), and Shaylee (13), and two sons, Jared (10) and Joshua (6).
