Master Chief Jeff Owejan enlisted in the Navy in 1991, after his completion of basic training he attended Gunner’s Mate “A” school in Great Lakes, IL. and subsequent MK41 Vertical Launching System “C” school in Damneck, VA.
His follow-on assignments include: USS Hue City (CG 66), Mayport, FL.; USS Philippine Sea (CG 58), Mayport, FL.; Gunner’s Mate “A” School, Great Lakes, IL.; USS Pinckney (DDG 91) San Diego, CA.; and the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA), Newport, RI.
His command leadership assignments include: Command Senior Chief and 3M Coordinator for MCM Crew Implicit, serving on USS Defender (MCM 2), USS Warrior (MCM 10), USS Dextrous (MCM 13), and USS Pioneer (MCM 9), Ingleside, TX.; Command Master Chief for the Center for Service Support, Newport, RI.; Command Master Chief for the “Grandmasters” (HSM 46) in Mayport, FL.; Command Master Chief for Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD., and his current assignment as the Command Master Chief on USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70).
Master Chief Owejan holds a Master of Education from Northeastern University, a Master of Science in Human Resource Development from Villanova University, and a Graduate Certificate in Maritime Studies, which he earned while attending the Australian Command Staff College. In addition, he attended the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Command Master Chief Capstone Course, National Defense University Keystone Senior Enlisted Leader course, and the Naval War College Maritime Staff Operators course.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6), and various unit and campaign awards.
