Rear Adm. (ret) Stanley D. Bozin, a native of Union, N.J., graduated from Rutgers College of Engineering at New Brunswick, N.J., in 1974 with a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Engineering. He received his commission in November of 1974 through the Aviation Reserve Officer Candidate Program and was designated a Naval Aviator in December 1975. He is a 1986 graduate of the Naval Post Graduate School, earning a master of science degree in Financial Management.
Bozin has had numerous operational and staff assignments during his career. He has achieved designations as a P-3C Patrol Plane Commander, Mission Commander and Instructor Pilot, as well as Plane Commander and Instructor Pilot in the UC-27 aircraft. His operational tours include flying assignments to Patrol Squadron 48 (1976-1979), Naval Air Development Center (NADC) (1979-1982), Patrol Squadron 45 (1987-1989); and sea-duty assignment as the Assistant Navigator aboard the USS Coral Sea (CV 43) (1983-1985). He deployed with the “Ageless Warrior” on the around-the-world cruise from Alameda, Calif., to Norfolk, Va.
Bozin has served in Command at every level. Patrol Squadron 24 at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla. as commanding officer (1991-1993), Commander, Task Group 67.1 (1992-1993), Commander, Patrol Wing 10 at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, Wash. (1996-1998), and Commander, Fleet Air Mediterranean; Commander, Maritime Surveillance and Reconnaissance Forces, U.S. Sixth Fleet; Commander, Naval Surface Group Mediterranean; Commander, and Maritime Air Allied Naval Forces South, Naples Italy (2003-2005). In April 2004, he assumed additional duties as Commander, Navy Region Europe. He has deployed around the world including Adak, Alaska; Misawa, Japan; Keflavik, Iceland; Sigonella, Sicily; and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Bozin’s staff assignments included Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Air Warfare (OP-O5), as lead Naval Aircraft Procurement Program and Budget Analyst (1989-1991), the J8 Directorate of the Joint Staff as the Division Chief for the Sea, Air, Space, Superiority Assessment Division (1998-2000), multiple tours on the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (FM&C) staff, as the Assistant to the Appropriations Matters Office (1993-1996), the Head of the Appropriations Matters Office (2000-2002), the Operations Division Director, Fiscal Management Division (2002-2003), and in his final assignment as the Director, Office of Budget, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Financial Management and Comptroller, Director, Fiscal Management Division (2003).
Bozin’s decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (4 awards), Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy Commendation Medal, and various other unit awards.
