Rear Adm. Greene was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, in May 1982. Following graduation, he completed the Nuclear Power initial pipeline training in February 1984.

Greene’s tours as a surface warfare officer included: auxiliaries division officer, USS Nimitz (CVN 68); first lieutenant and communications officer, USS Briscoe (DD 977); tactical action officer instructor, Fleet Combat Training Center, where he was awarded the Chief of Naval Education and Training Instructor of the year for 1989.

Greene played an active role in Neon Falcon 1999, 2001 and Bright Star 2000. His five command tours were with Navy Computers and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Atlantic Det. 106; Shore Intermediate Maintenance Availability Det. 8; Naval Special Warfare Group Two, Det. 107; Harbor Defense Command 207 and Naval Coastal Warfare (NCW) Squadron 26. As the commander of NCW Squadron 26, he was mobilized and deployed to Kuwait from December 2005 to September 2006, responsible for port security in the region and earning his command at-sea pin. He is most proud to have served with shipmates who together earned the Meritorious Unit Commendation upon return from deployment.

His follow-on assignments include principal advisor to the Chief of Strategic Affairs, N1, directly supporting the chief of naval personnel in directorate roadmap development to bring FIT 2016 to the Fleet; deputy director, Navy Staff, overseeing six OPNAV Reserve units as the director, Navy Staff’s Operations Support Officer ; and senior advisor in Anti-terrorism to the Commander, U. S. Fleet Forces Command.

Greene is a Level II joint specialty officer. His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Greene is currently serving as deputy director, European Plans and Operations Center (ECJ-3), United States European Command, Patch Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany.

Greene is a licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and he resides in London, UK, as a senior staff member for the Head of Operations, International Power - GDF SUEZ, supporting 350 power plants worldwide.
