Rear Admiral Dale E. Horan

Rear Adm. Dale E. Horan is a native of Timonium, Maryland.  He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, the U.S.Navy Test Pilot School/Naval Postgraduate School Cooperative Program with a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering, and the National War College with a Master of Science in National Security Strategy.

Horan was designated a naval aviator in 1987.  He served in the fighter and strike fighter communities and has commanded at the squadron, air wing, and carrier strike group level.

Shore and staff tours include, the Naval Air Warfare Center as a project officer; Headquarters, Naval Reactors, as aide to the Director; a joint tour at U.S. Strategic Command; Carrier Strike Group 5 / Carrier Task Force 70 as the operations officer in the Forward Deployed Naval Forces out of Yokosuka, Japan; and North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command as the executive assistant to the commander.

As a flag officer, he served previously as deputy director for Operations, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, J-3 at the Pentagon, and commander, Carrier Strike Group 8.

Horan assumed his current duties as director, Joint Strike Fighter Fleet Integration in September 2017.

Horan has served on teams that have been awarded the Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, the Navy Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, and the Battle Efficiency “E” Awards.
