OPNAV N76 plays a critical role in developing the future of Surface Warfare. Future systems and platforms will include the following:

• Advanced Gun System (AGS)
• Ballistic Missile Defense
• CIWS 1B
• Extended Range Active Missile
• Extended Range Guided Munition
• Hellfire
• MH-60R
• Remote Minehunting System
• Tactical Tomahawk

To extend the life of current ships, Surface Warfare is investing in Cruiser Conversion.
To get new capabilities to sea, the future surface combatant force will likely consist of the following ships:

• Aegis fleet
• Guided Missile Cruisers (CG)
• Destroyers (DD) and Guided Missile Destroyers (DDG)
• LCS
• DD(X)
• CG(X)
