NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (NNS) -- Precommissioning Unit Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) welcomed its two-thousandth Sailor June 25. Chief Aviation Ordnanceman (AW) Kerry Grant helped PCU Ronald Reagan reach the milestone on the 17th anniversary of his enlistment.

"I joined the Navy on June 25, 1985, during Ronald Reagan's 2nd term as President," he said. "I remember his service to the military well. He was very good to the Navy."

Grant comes to Reagan from the Strike and Air Warfare Center, Naval Air Station Fallon, Nev. He will report to Weapons department, G-1 division, where he will be the work center chief petty officer.

The crew of USS RONALD REAGAN will be approximately 2,500 when the ship is commissioned May 10, 2003.
