CORONADO, Calif. (NNS) -- The educational services office (ESO) aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) sponsored an education fair, March 4, to provide Sailors with information on furthering their education while on active duty.
Ensign Jennifer Calinao, Ronald Reagan's education services officer, arranged to have representatives from 15 different colleges and universities advise Sailors on how to achieve their educational goals.
With tables set up on the ship's mess decks the education fair kicked off providing Sailors educational resources.
"The representatives came aboard to show what's offered out there and provide resources to the crew," said Calinao. "Knowledge is the key to success."
Calinao said the event was a great opportunity to see what these schools have to offer and speak to a college representative.
"We are hear to help the Sailors get a degree plan with the collage of there choice," said Elizabeth Baker, one of the many college representatives who spoke to Sailors during the fair.
Sailors who attended the fair said they gained some useful information for getting started with a degree, or finishing an educational goal.
"By speaking with a representative, I learned that I have more semester hours than I expected in order to get my degree," said Information Systems Technician 1st Class (SW/AW) Mario Nunez.
Calinao said Sailors who didn't attend the fair are welcome to come to the ESO on board Ronald Reagan, or visit the local Navy College Office for more information.
