From Commander, U.S. 2nd Fleet Public Affairs

NORFOLK (NNS) -- Chief of Maritime Staff, Canadian Navy, Vice Adm. Drew William Robertson visited Commander 2nd Fleet March 20.

"This visit was about expanding our already successful partnership with our Canadian ally," said Commander, 2nd Fleet Vice Adm. Marty Chanik. "Working to expand our cooperative relationships with other nations contributes to the security and stability of the maritime domain for the benefit of all."

During the tour, Robertson viewed various departments of the 2nd Fleet Headquarters, including the future Maritime Operations Center-Experimental (MOC-X).

Chanik explained how MOC-X's mission is to advance the Maritime Operations Centers as the primary theater command and control facility responsible for supporting the orchestration of a maritime campaign for a coalition effort.

After the tour, Robertson discussed how important partnerships are.

"It's about homeland defense," said Robertson, "but it's also about being able to all make contributions to each other."

Robertson is in the Norfolk area for briefs and tours as the official guest of U.S. Navy Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Gary Roughead.
