PENSACOLA, Fla. (NNS) -- Following a brief unexpected outage due to an operating system error, several Web sites hosted by the Saufley Enterprise Data Center are back online as of Feb. 26.

Of particular concern to Sailors was the Navy Advancement Center Web site, containing exam bibliography documents and links to professional military knowledge references for each rank and rating.

"The timing of the server outage was unfortunate due to the March exams being right around the corner," said Capt. Katharine Reed, commanding officer of Naval Education and Training Command Professional Development Technology Center (NETPDTC). "We knew that we were supporting thousands of Sailors preparing for their tests, and the NETPDTC Information Technology Team worked around-the-clock to restore the sites as quickly as possible."

Starting in March 2010, the Web site will begin phasing in occupational reference links and, once complete, will offer virtual one-stop shopping for Sailors who previously had to track down numerous publications and references in order to get ready for exams. The occupational reference links, combined with the currently available professional military knowledge links complete the bibliography reference package for Sailors preparing for advancement.
