WASHINGTON (NNS) -- The Navy' s Diversity Directorate and U.S. Fleet Forces Command will host the 12th semi-annual Fleet Diversity Council Wednesday, Nov. 3 aboard Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana, Va.
Navy personnel from all ranks, rates, GS levels and backgrounds are encouraged to attend.
With a theme of "Diversity Intelligence as a Leadership Strategy," the program aims to educate Sailors, officers and civilians on the value of leveraging diversity and inclusion to achieve mission success.
The day will feature one session held from 8:10 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. at NAS Oceana's base theater and will feature a presentation from world-renowned keynote speaker, Dr. Samuel Betances.
The council will also solicit deckplate-level feedback and recommendations to the chief of naval operations and other senior Navy leadership on past, current and future diversity initiatives.
