WASHINGTON (NNS) -- Nominations are being accepted for the 2012 Office of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity (ODMEO) Awards, announced in NAVADMIN 004/12, Jan. 3.
The ODMEO Awards honor military members and Department of Defense civilian employees who have supported the DoD mission, overseas contingency operations, or whose attributes best epitomize the qualities and core values of their respective military service or DoD component.
Military members, components, and civilian employees are eligible to apply for the Outstanding Department of Defense (DoD) Employee With a Disability Award.
Military members and civilian employees are eligible to apply for the National Image, Incorporated (IMAGE) Meritorious Service Award, the National Organization for Mexican American Rights (NOMAR) Meritorious Service Award, the Blacks in Government (BIG) Meritorious Service Award, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Roy Wilkins Renown Service Award, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Excellence in Service Award and the Society of American Indian Government Employees (SAIGE) Meritorious Service Award.
Military members are also eligible to apply for the Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) Military Meritorious Service Award and the Federally Employed Women (FEW) Recognition Award.
Service academy and NROTC midshipmen are eligible to apply for the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Award Corporation (HENAAC) Cadet Roles Model Award.
Navy military nomination packages must be submitted electronically directly to Lt. Joseph Leavitt, Navy Office of Diversity and Inclusion (OPNAV N134) at joseph.leavitt@navy.mil. Do not mail nomination packages directly to the applicable organization.
Candidates must be nominated by their commanding officer or officer-in-charge and have an endorsement from the command's immediate supervisor in command (ISIC). Nominations missing an ISIC will not be accepted.
Packages must be received by N134 no later than 5 p.m. EST on the respective due date listed in the NAVADMIN. N134 will collect all Navy military nominations. After collection, N134 will screen all packages and hold an awards board prior to submitting to the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
All civilian nomination packages must be sent to Ms. Sonya Tucker-Long at sonya.tucker-long@navy.mil.
