NORFOLK, Va. (NNS) -- The Production Management Branch (N73) at the Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) announced it established a group e-mail account to better serve fleet training activity resource customers, Jan. 6.

The account is for the submission of system change requests supporting functional needs.

"Direct communication with our customers is key to staying on top of issues, ideas and concerns that the fleet has about the Corporate enterprise & Training Activity Resource System (CeTARS)," said CeTARS Functional Program Manager Mark Thorne. "We welcome and need input from all who interact with our system at any level on ideas to improve CeTARS. This e-mail account is the preferred means for personnel to communicate with our team."

CeTARS is a key training management system that serves as the Navy's official source of training course description and statistical information, and provides student and training information required throughout the fleet. The "faces" of the CeTARS database that most users interact with on a regular basis are the Catalog of Navy Training Courses (CANTRAC) and the Enterprise Naval Training Reservation System (eNTRS). CeTARS is also the automated information system designed to support the management and administrative functions of Navy training activities, including schoolhouses, learning centers and training support centers. Support functions include student training and personnel management, classroom support, testing and evaluation, student testing and evaluation, as well as related administrative support.

"The CeTARS program management team mailbox eliminates the need for customers to track down a phone number or point of contact that may have changed," added Thorne. "From our initial dialog via this account, we can quickly determine how to proceed with issues identified by customers and stakeholders. We rely on the CeTARS workforce to let us know how CeTARS should function, or how it should be modified or improved."

To reach the team's mailbox, type "CeTARS" in the NMCI Global Address List (GAL) which will display Cetars_funct_pgm_mgr.fct@navy.mil.

The team's mailbox is not intended to be used for routine administrative requests. Specific links and e-mail addresses are provided for the following:

1. Requests for training on the CeTARS system itself - lessons on how to use CeTARS and CeTARS applications. There is an organization in place to provide that support. To receive training on how to use CeTARS, email to cetarstraining_reque@navy.mil.

2. Requests for any type of information on CeTARS-based courses of instruction (questions about schedules, quotas, or specific information about a course of instruction). Use the Catalog of Navy Training Courses (CANTRAC) for that information at https://main.prod.cetars.training.navy.mil/cetars/main.cac_message. For training on how to access or use CANTRAC, refer to paragraph (1).

3. The team e-mail is not a substitute for submitting a traditional "trouble call" to the system service provider, the Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center (NETPDTC). To report something does not function properly in CeTARS or CeTARS applications, e-mail slfy.cetarsmgmt@navy.mil.
