Board of Inspection and Survey President to Present at NWDC Speaker Series

NORFOLK, Va. (NNS) -- Navy Warfare Development Command (NWDC) announced that the president of the Board of Inspection and Survey, will be the next speaker at the "NWDC Speaker Series," Aug. 30.

Rear Adm. Robert O. Wray Jr. will present "Four Essential Components of Leadership," from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. EDT, at NWDC's headquarters on Naval Station Norfolk and over Defense Connect Online (DCO).

Wray assumed his current duties in March 2011. He previously served as vice commander, U.S. Navy Forces Europe/Africa and 6th Fleet, and was also deputy commander, Military Sealift Command.

In the civilian sector, Wray has broad entrepreneurial background, having founded and run companies in manufacturing, construction, services, energy and information technology.

"Rear Adm. Wray's background - on active duty, in the Reserves and in the business community - gives him a wide and deep perspective on leadership," said Rear Adm. Terry B. Kraft, commander, Navy Warfare Development Command. "I particularly hope aspiring junior leaders are able to join us - even virtually through DCO - to learn new leadership techniques."

Participants in the Hampton Roads area are invited to view the presentation in person at NWDC's headquarters at 1528 Piersey Street, Building O-27, on Naval Station Norfolk.

The NWD Speaker Series is designed to stimulate provocative discussion and action to drive a culture of innovation in the Navy.
