YOKOSUKA, Japan (NNS) -- Girl Scouts from West Pacific Girl Scout Troop 235, on board Fleet Activities, Yokosuka, served a homemade, Italian dinner to single and unaccompanied Sailors at a "Thank God It's Friday" (TGIF) event held at new USO, Yokosuka facilities, March 8.

According to USO Yokosuka Center Manager Maggie Constantino, TGIF is a biweekly event the USO co-sponsors with a local community organization to provide a home-cooked meal for Sailors. The TGIF event is held in the evening on non-pay day Fridays.

"We're here for the [Sailors]; we're here for the military family, and we want to do the best we can to provide them a home away from home," said Constantino.

Tricia Marino, Troop 235 leader said, Mia Marino, Kylie Gough, Olivia Schmitz and Venus Peerson volunteered to serve dinner to the Sailors.

The menu included rigatoni, baked ziti, lasagna, spaghetti with meat sauce, a Mediterranean pasta salad, soft drinks, garlic bread, salad and a variety of Girl Scout cookies for dessert.

"The food was delicious," said Machinist's Mate 3rd Class Bryan Marzolf, assigned to USS George Washington (CVN 73).

Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) Airman Brandon Fought, also from George Washington, said the food was really good and it was a great experience.

"What we're trying to do here is give them a place that's like home," said Elaine Ross, a USO volunteer. "It seems like they really appreciate it."
