PENSACOLA, Fla. (NNS) -- Capt. Susan K. Cerovsky, commanding officer of the Center for Information Dominance (CID), announced March 6 that CID had received the Naval Education Training Command (NETC) Training Excellence Award (TEA) in four categories.

The annual award was established by NETC to recognize commands that epitomize the highest standards of training excellence to ensure that well-trained Sailors are available to meet the needs of the fleet; guaranteeing the continued success of the Navy as a global force for good.

"It is with great pride and admiration to congratulate the entire domain on all our hard work leading to our recognition in four Training Excellence Award categories," Cerovsky said.

All NETC training activities and those that conduct NETC training courses are eligible for the TEA.

The TEA is composed of three broad categories: The Learning Center Training Excellence "T" Award, The Training Support Center Training Support Excellence "TS" Award, and functional excellence awards.

As the Navy's learning center that leads, manages and delivers Navy and joint force training in information operations, information warfare, information technology, cryptology and intelligence, CID qualifies for the Learning Center Training Excellence Award categories.

CID won in four individual categories: Planning and Programming (Gray T), Curriculum Management (Black T), Information Technology Award (Gold T), and Training Production Management (Green T).

CID was the front runner in two categories: Information Technology and Training Production Management.

"The NETC Training Excellence Award signals to the fleet that CID continues to be one of the Navy's top performing learning centers, and that we are providing Sailors who can help them maintain their warfighting readiness," said CID Command Master Chief Travis Brummer.

To be considered for the award, commands must achieve a minimum score of 90 percent on graded criteria. This includes a self-assessment, supporting documentation and an evaluation by NETC leadership.

Furthermore, all commands must have attained satisfactory assessments and not have had any training-related (on-duty) Class A or Class B mishaps throughout the calendar year.

It is noteworthy that 2012 is the first year that CID has earned the TEA award as a newly merged and greatly expanded command.

In October 2011, two commands from the Center for Naval Intelligence - Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center (NMITC) and Fleet Intelligence Training Command (FITC) - merged with CID. A month later, CID Unit Corry Station and CID Monterey were established as new commands.

"The recent growth to our domain has helped CID to better fulfill the Chief of Naval Operations' priority of meeting both current and future challenges," said Cerovsky.

NETC Commander Rear Adm. Donald P. Quinn, in a message to the fleet, thanked the commands who received the award.

"My heartiest congratulations and most sincere personal thank you for a job exceptionally well done," Quinn wrote.

A plaque and a burgee (pennant) will be presented to the award winners. These commands are authorized to display the burgee throughout the 2013 calendar year to indicate their outstanding accomplishment and excellence in the delivery of education and training.

With a staff of nearly 1,300 military, civilian and contracted staff members, CID oversees the development and administration of 226 courses at four commands, two detachments, and 16 learning sites throughout the United States and Japan. CID provides training for approximately 24,000 members of the U.S. Armed Services and allied forces each year.
