UPDATE: One Sailor Dies, One Injured in Parachute Training Accident

SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Two members of an East Coast based Naval Special Warfare unit were involved in a training accident in the vicinity of Pinal Airpark in Marana, Az. on March 28 at approximately 12:30 p.m. Naval Special Warfare Command announced today the name of the service member killed in the accident.

Special Warfare Operator Chief Brett D. Shadle, age 31, of Elizabethville, Pa. died in the parachute training accident in Arizona. Chief Shadle was assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit.

The other sailor remains in stable condition.

This incident is under investigation.
