APRA HARBOR, Guam (NNS) -- Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) arrived in Apra Harbor, Guam, for a port visit April 11.
The visit provides Chung-Hoon Sailors an opportunity to participate in Morale, Welfare and Recreation activities including snorkeling and scuba diving, as well as utilizing shore-services such as the base gym and Navy Exchange.
"This port visit offers Sailors a much-deserved chance to relax and unwind," said Logistics Specialist 1st Class Shelton Thomas of Chung-Hoon. "Guam provides services to the ship such as fuel and stores, as well as parts and other supplies."
Chung-Hoon's mission in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region will be largely focused on supporting the United States' maritime strategy and theatre security goals of promoting peace, maintaining regional security, and bolstering international relationships.
"With numerous exercises and operations to concentrate on over the next several months, a stop in Guam lets our Sailors review final preparations for the rest of the deployment," said Lt. James Diefenderfer, USS Chung-Hoon operations officer.
