PATUXENT RIVER, Md. (NNS) -- Sailors and Marines looking for answers on the deployment of continuous process improvement (CPI) in the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) now have a one-stop resource.
The NAE CPI Guidebook is a 235-page document that describes and clarifies roles, responsibilities, standards, and proven methods that aid the NAE to assess and improve the performance of its organizations. It also provides standard, solution-oriented, problem-solving methods and concepts that enable personnel to continuously improve performance, maximize the effective use of resources, and move organizations toward the achievement of the strategic goals of the NAE.
Written by the Maintenance and Supply Chain Integration Performance Improvement Branch (PIB); Headquarters, Marine Corps Aviation Logistics Support Branch; the AIRSpeed offices of Naval Air Systems Command; Commander, Fleet Readiness Centers; and Commander, Naval Air Force Pacific, the guidelines not only standardize training and certification tracks for all green and black belts but also provide a more synergetic approach to applying CPI toolset and methodologies in the fleet.
Last published in 2010, the document establishes required knowledge and skill sets for practitioners and amplifies guidance on how to execute CPI as required by the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program.
The recently released guidance also includes communication tools, a risk mitigation guide, an overview of information technology tools, recommendations for replication of projects, and checklists.
