PIRAEUS, Greece (NNS) -- The 10th Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) arrived in Piraeus, Greece, for a scheduled port visit Mar. 4.

While in port, Sailors will have the opportunity to explore Piraeus and the neighboring cities as well as take part in community relations events.

"I am really excited to visit the Acropolis," said Aviation Ordnanceman 1st Class Chase Tallent, a member of VFA-31 aboard George H.W. Bush. "I also can't wait to learn about all the history."

George H.W. Bush will be hosting a reception on board for dignitaries and participating in community relations projects.

Sailors will be enjoying some free time to take in the local sites, experience the culture and volunteer their time at a local orphanage.

"I'm looking forward to being able to give back to the local community in a positive way," said Seaman Andrew Johnson, a first time deployer and native of Mount Vernon, Texas. "I'm also interested in seeing other countries ways of life."

The ship will be conducting exercises with the Hellenic Navy to strengthen maritime partnerships.

George H.W. Bush is on a scheduled deployment as a part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group to support maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th fleet areas of responsibility.
