OAK HARBOR, Wash. (NNS) -- Naval Hospital Oak Harbor (NHOH) recognized the staff at the TRICARE Service Center (TSC) with a Letter of Appreciation March 25 for their superior service in helping beneficiaries with their TRICARE questions and concerns from NHOH patients.

The TSC Representatives are responsible for assisting with enrollment and primary care assignments both within NHOH and the civilian healthcare network.

They are also instrumental in processing specialty referrals for NHOH beneficiaries as well as assisting them to understand their claims. They serve approximately 40 to 75 walk-in customers daily. The TSC customer service team has made it a top priority to provide expert guidance to the hospital staff, in particular, the Referral Management Center in order to best serve beneficiaries with their primary and specialty care needs.

Rosa Merrell, the referral management supervisor, shared her thoughts at the ceremony.

"It has been a pleasure working with the TRICARE service representatives," said Merrell. "Their approach to the beneficiaries and the staff's inquiries has always been respectful and presented with intelligent confidence, while providing situational options and resolutions. They have been vital to Naval Hospital Oak Harbor's continued level of excellence in health care operations. They will be missed."

The three service representatives, Stephanie Johnson, Tracy Quintin, and Barry Wenaas have a collective 16 years of experience working for NHOH and other Military Treatment Facilities in the region. This combined experience has allowed them to take pride in their ability to solve both routine and complex issues that arise with claims, enrollment fees and other TRICARE matters. All three service representatives maintain the goal of having NHOH beneficiaries leave with a better understanding of their benefits and pleased that they took the time to visit the TSC in person.

All TRICARE service walk-in centers in the United States will close their doors April 1.

Beneficiaries can receive 24/7 TRICARE assistance by calling United Health care at 1-877-988-9378 or visiting www.tricare.mil for enrollment and benefits assistance.
