SINGAPORE (NNS) -- USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) arrived in Singapore June 26, marking the super carrier’s first port call to the island nation since December 2001.
Three other ships from the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group joined the “Gold Eagle," following almost a month of sustained operations at sea.
Accompanying the “Gold Eagle” are guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54), frigate USS Ingraham (FFG 61) and fast-combat support ship USS Sacramento (AOE 1).
The Carl Vinson carrier strike group was ordered to the western Pacific Feb. 7 in an effort to maintain America's standing commitment to peace, stability and theater security cooperation, in coordination with allies and friends in the region.
Carl Vinson and its crew departed Bremerton, Wash., Jan. 13.
