WELTON, Ariz. (Oct. 9, 2017) U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey aircraft assigned to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron (MAWTS) 1 drop off Marines assigned to Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines during Assault Support Tactics One (AST-1) in support of the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (WTI) 1-18 at Combat Town in Wellton, Ariz., on Oct. 9, 2017. AST-1 is a battalion reinforced air assault exercise, supported by fixed wing and rotary wing aviation fires, aviation delivered artillery, and mortars. The combat lifesavers course is a class designed to provide Marines skills that will allow them to better assess and react to injuries while in a high-stress environment before being treated by a higher echelon of medical care. San Diego is deployed with the America Amphibious Ready Group and the 15th MEU  to support maritime security and theater security cooperation in efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.
