PACIFIC OCEAN (April 28, 2012) The Mexican Navy frigate ARM Hermenegildo Galeana (F 202) underway during a passing exercise with the littoral combat ship USS Independence (LCS 2) following Independence's port visit to Manzanillo, Mexico. Galeana is former U.S. Navy frigate USS Bronstein (FF 1037). Bronstein was commissioned June 1963, decommissioned in 1990, then transferred to the Mexican Navy in 1993 and began active service as Galeana in 2012. Independence's Gold Crew and embarked Mine Countermeasures Detachment 1 are underway for the ship's maiden voyage to its homeport of San Diego.
