WASHINGTON (Oct. 9, 2012) Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Adm. Jonathan Greenert examines a historical, multi-chamber gun used by the U.S. Navy during the War of 1812 during a reception at the National Museum of the U.S. Navy to commemorate the Navy's 237th birthday. This year marks the bicentennial of the War of 1812. The U.S. Navy has a 237-year heritage of defending freedom and projecting and protecting U.S. interests around the globe.
