STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Nov. 9, 2012) Boatswain's Mate 1st Class David Confessore, Seaman Travis Townsend, and Electronics Technician 3rd Class Yorgo Katsouridis, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), carry debris to a pile while cleaning up a street that was decimated by Hurricane Sandy. More than 130 Sailors and Marines volunteered to help remove debris from the neighborhoods, roads, and alleys. Wasp, the amphibious transport dock USS San Antonio (LPD 17), and the dock landing ship USS Carter Hill (LSD 50) are positioned in New York Harbor to provide relief support to areas affected by Hurricane Sandy.
