INDIAN OCEAN (May 26, 2013) An MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 6, embarked aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), performs a low hover over the Indian Ocean during a mine pounce training exercise. A mine pounce is when a technician jumps from a helicopter near a mine and attaches an explosive to it. The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.
