GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (Jan. 2, 2018) The future San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Portland (LPD 27) transits Guantanamo Bay during a brief fuel stop. The ship is on its way to homeport in San Diego and is scheduled to be commissioned in its namesake city of Portland, Ore., in April. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay is the Navy's strategic logistics installation for routine, contingency, humanitarian, counternarcotic and migrant operations in the Caribbean; providing high quality of life while preserving environmental, historic and cultural resources.
