(March 6, 2007) - Sailors aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and employees from Northrop Grumman Newport News shipyard gather on the ship's flight deck for a ceremony to commemorate the stepping of the ship's mast. The stepping of the ship's mast is a Navy tradition in which a coin is placed at the base of a ship's mast to bring good luck and safe voyages for a vessel.
