NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (June 28, 2007) - Capt. Ted Carter, commanding officer of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), and members from the ship's air department cut a ribbon to commemorate the first newly refurbished berthing space for the ship during her refueling complex overhaul (RCOH). Sailors aboard Vinson are helping to refurbish spaces in anticipation for their move back aboard the ship in late 2008. Vinson is undergoing her scheduled RCOH at Northrop Grumman Newport News shipyard. The RCOH is an extensive yard period that all Nimitz-class aircraft carriers go through near the mid-point of their 50-year life cycle.
