CHARLESTOWN, Mass. (Aug. 17, 2009) USS Constitution crewmember Boatswains Mate 2nd Class Garrett Renner guides a team of Navy chief selects in the port whaleboat of USS Constitution. Ships' crew and senior enlisted mentors use techniques from 18th century seamanship to instill more than 200 years of naval heritage in the Navy's newest chiefs during Constitution's annual Chief Petty Officer Heritage Week. About 140 selects from dozens of commands Navy-wide, including two Royal Navy Sailors, live and train aboard Constitution during one of their six weeks of chief petty officer induction training.
