A 1991 graduate of the Naval Academy, Rear Adm. Heidi Berg commissioned as a cryptologist. Fluent in Russian and Arabic, Berg received a Master of Philosophy in Modern Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic from St. Antony’s College. She served on airborne, surface and subsurface platforms, supported U.S. and partner space capabilities, and served in combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan. She was selected as a flag officer in 2018. She currently serves as director, plans and policy, J5, U.S. Cyber Command (2023).
