Rear Adm. Margaret Kibben became the first woman chaplain at the Naval Academy. She was also the first woman to serve as the chaplain of the United States Marine Corps and the deputy chief of chaplains of the United States Navy, a position held from 2010-2014. Kibben then became the first woman chief of Navy chaplains in 2014 and, after her retirement from the Navy in 2018, she became the first woman chaplain of the U.S. House of Representatives. She was just reelected to serve as chaplain of the U.S. House of Representatives on Jan. 7, 2023.
