Lt. Sarilyn Escobar is the first Carolinian woman to be commissioned from Saipan, Northern Marianas Islands. She enlisted in the Navy in 2005, earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and was commissioned as an ensign in 2012. She is currently assigned to USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) (2023).
